#WhataboutTheJobMarket
16th July, 2026 - The Hoffman Agency, London, UK
This #Whataboutisms event brought together people from across the communications industry to confront a question many are quietly asking: what is it really like trying to find a job in comms in 2026? Against a backdrop of competitive entry-level roles, changing expectations around hybrid work and the rise of AI, the discussion explored why finding your place in the industry can feel like a job in itself.
The evening began with our WAI Spotlight speakers, Amelie Abass, Ridhka Kakkar and Shuprima Guha, who each took to the stage to share a short talk on a subject that mattered to them. Their varied perspectives set the tone for an evening of open conversation, fresh ideas and emerging voices.
The main panel brought together Graduate Account Executive Tehreem Fatima; Satchit Srikanth, Recruitment Consultant at The Outliers; Oris Ikomi, Senior Programme Manager at the Taylor Bennett Foundation; and Aimee Waving, Senior Account Director at The Hoffman Agency. Moderated by Whataboutisms’ Amber Ellis, the discussion explored what employers are looking for, the pressure to stand out and the realities of navigating applications, interviews, rejection and new opportunities.
With candid conversation, practical advice and plenty of shared experiences, the event offered a valuable look at how the communications job market is changing—and how candidates can navigate it.
